Our famous “Aladdin’s Cave” shop and scrap store which sells a wide range of low cost resources and equipment for arts and crafts, school projects and play activities including an excellent variety of resources and material donated by local businesses and individuals to challenge your imagination.
We have a diverse variety of hire equipment suitable for fundraising, activity days, fayres etc. or just to make your fun days more colourful and active. All resources are available for hire daily or longer for a modest fee.
At our purpose built Resource Centre in Mersey Rd Runcorn we have two rooms for hire for your meetings or training needs, rooms are fully accessible and equipped with a range of audio visual resources. The rooms are available daily until 10pm and weekends 8am-5.30pm at competitive rates. Light refreshments can also be provided.
The Resource Centre is an outlet for Halton Council’s Children’s Centres Helps scheme. The service provides access to “safety Equipment” e.g. Safety gates, fireguards, first aid boxes etc. at affordable prices to families in Halton.
Our Toy Library Service offers free “drop in” Play ,Learn and Loan sessions with toys and activities to suit all abilities and development needs including a range of SEN resources. These sessions offer children the chance to experience new play and learning opportunities in a safe, supported environment. Parents/Carers can seek advice and information about play and how learning through play supports their child’s natural physical, cognitive, emotional and social development.
During school holidays (except Christmas) the Play Council delivers “open access” play schemes or play activities for 5-12yr olds. Play Schemes offer an opportunity for children to participate in interesting and challenging activities with their friends and peers in a safe environment staffed with qualified, experienced play workers and operated to Ofsted standards. All activities are free of charge.
Through the Play Schemes and the Play Councils “R” Clubs, operated at Cavendish School, Warrington Road Children’s centre and Glendale Family Centre, the Play Council delivers short breaks and play/leisure activities for children and young people aged 4-18. These services are free of charge but not open access, places are allocated by referral from an appropriate agency.
The Play Council, subject to funding, provides Saturday afternoon (12.30-15.30) open access play opportunities for 5-12 yr. olds at Simms Cross School, Widnes
